Nature Walks - 2 events 12/9/21 and 26/9/21 BOOKING ESSENTIAL

SUNDAY 12/9/21

This walk will take place along the new trail by the Duff River which is on the N15 at the Sligo-Leitrim boundary.

This is a particularly good area for observing birdlife including Dipper and Grey Wagtail, both indicators of good water quality. The open nature of the walk makes it excellent for observing river bank flora and the associated insect life.

The river is also an excellent salmon river and the life history of this fish will be discussed and although it is the end of the season, there is a chance of seeing the fish jump. This is an easy walk with little change in elevation. We will also be discussing the importance of maintaining good water quality for a healthy environment.

SUNDAY 26/9/21

This walk will be along the Ballintrillick River, in Ballintrillick, North Co. Sligo.

The meeting place will be at the car park at the Glenfiff Barytes Mill Site in Ballintrillick and we will follow the trail through the Coillte Woodland and along the river before returning by road to complete a loop.

This walk has a rich woodland flora and fauna with excellent open views along the way.  Although there will be some hills and steps to climb along the way we will be walking at a leisurely pace with plenty of stops. We will also be discussing the importance of maintaining good water quality for a healthy environment.
