4/6/2021 - COVID-19 UPDATE

Following measures under the Irish Government's Resilience and Recovery: The Path Ahead plan, we have re-opened The Benwiskin Centre Hostel.

GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK!!!   

  • In accordance with Government guidelines to minimise transmission of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), this property may request additional documentation from guests to validate identity, travel itinerary and other relevant information, during dates where such guidelines exist.
     
  • Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), please ensure that you are only booking this property following the local Government guidelines of the destination, including but not limited to the purpose of travel, and maximum allowed group size.
     
  • Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), wearing a face mask is mandatory in all indoor common areas.
     
  • It is not possible to stay at this property for Coronavirus (COVID-19) quarantine purposes.
     

If arriving from outside the island of Ireland

  • All guests travelling into Ireland from other countries are asked to comply with Covid-19 travel restrictions within Ireland. For the latest travel advice in Ireland, please visit www.dfa.ie or www.gov.ie


Requirement for a pre-departure COVID-19 Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test

  • If you are arriving into Ireland from overseas or are transiting through an Irish port or airport the current advice is you must have a negative/‘not detected’ result from a pre-departure COVID-19 Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test carried out no more than 72 hours prior to your arrival in Ireland. Antigen or other test types do not meet the requirements.
  • You will be asked to show evidence of this negative or 'not detected' result before boarding the airplane or ferry from the country you are travelling from and will be denied boarding if you cannot produce such evidence. Once you arrive in Ireland - you have to provide this evidence to Irish immigration officers.
  • You should retain the written confirmation of your test result for at least 14 days.
  • If you arrive without evidence of a negative or 'not detected' RT-PCR test or a valid exemption, this is an offence
  • You must enter and pay for mandatory quarantine in a hotel until either you receive a negative or ‘not detected’ RT-PCR test result or you have quarantined in the hotel for 10 days


If you arrive into Ireland from overseas and enter via Northern Ireland

  • You must have a negative or 'not detected' RT-PCR test result taken within 72 hours of arrival at the point of entry and retain this test result for 14 days after arrival. It must be shown upon request to a member of An Garda Síochána (the Irish police force).


Post-arrival quarantine requirements for all passengers arriving in Ireland

  • Mandatory quarantine requirements apply to all persons who have been overseas in the 14-days prior to entering Ireland. Arrivals from designated States are subject to mandatory hotel quarantine.


For all others arriving in Ireland from non-designated states:-

  • A 14-day quarantine period must be undertaken at the address specified on the Passenger Locator Form
  • Passengers who travel from another country to Ireland, and arrive via Northern Ireland, must also observe the mandatory quarantine regime
  • You may only leave your place of residence during the quarantine period for unavoidable reasons of an emergency nature to protect a person’s health or welfare, or to leave the State
  • You can end your period of quarantine if you receive written confirmation of a negative or ‘not detected’ RT-PCR test result taken no less than 5 days after arrival. You must retain the written confirmation of your test result for at least 14 days

If you do not fulfil the legal requirement for mandatory quarantine you are committing an offence.



GUEST ‘JOURNEY THROUGH OUR HOSTEL’

In response to COVID-19, we would like to explain some of the measures that we are taking to make sure you have a safe and comfortable stay with us, here at The Benwiskin Centre.

Arrival

  • Check in time is strictly between 16.00hrs - 20.00hrs Monday to Sunday.
  • Check in is not permitted after 20.00hrs
  • On arrival to the Hostel, please use the footwear sanitising basin at the front door
  • Clear guidance concerning social distancing of 2 metres is in place in the lobby area and at our screened Reception desk for both your protection and that of our staff
  • Please use the hand sanitisation unit in the entrance porch before approaching the reception desk.

Check-in

  • At reception, please use the hand sanitiser provided and please observe social distancing of 2 metres.
  • When checking in as a family/group, only one nominated ‘group leader’ is permitted to approach the reception desk to check in for everyone under their reservation.
  • If we did not receive the completed COVID-19 Declaration form before your arrival, you will need to complete it at check-in.
  • The nominated ‘group leader’ will also be required to complete our registration form on arrival and payment for your reservation can be made at that time if not paid in advance.
  • Contactless payment accepted up to €50.
  • We would strongly advise guests to pre-pay before arrival to limit the contact with staff.
  • Screen at desk so that check-in process remains as contactless as physically possible, credit card pin pads sanitised after each use.

Journey to your room

  • To reduce contact between staff and guests, a staff member will provide you with details about the Hostel, the location of your bedroom and communal rooms you have access to for your stay.
  • A floor plan of the building will be provided for your group.

Entering your bedroom

  • Bedroom doors including handles are sanitised after each departure so will be fully sanitised upon arrival.
  • All our bedrooms are cleaned to the highest standards but as part of our continued effort in the fight against COVID-19, we will now focus on sanitising high touch points immediately following our usual deep clean.  High touch points such as:-
    • Switches and controls including all lighting, electrical sockets, TV remote Control etc.
    • Surfaces in the bedroom to include lockers, headboards, windowsills, door handles including main door, drawers, blind pull chain and wardrobe hangers.
    • Surfaces in ensuites to include taps, shower controls, shower walls, shower rails, toilet seat, toilet, waste bin, toilet brush holder, flush, towel rails.
  • We have removed all non-essential items such as brochures, decorative pillows and bed throws from bedrooms.
  • Our linen is changed after every use. Our duvets and pillows are cleaned covered at all times with fresh mattress/pillow protectors.
  • All linens and towels are laundered in our laundry at temperatures above 60° and to HSE guidelines for your comfort and safety.

Kitchen and Dining Room areas
We have made some changes to the operation of our self-catering kitchen and separate dining rooms:-

  • The self-catering kitchen is available to prepare your own meals between 7am - 11.00am and 13.00hrs - 20.00hrs daily
  • To comply with social distancing, a second separate dining area will be available for guests to use.
  • The kitchen and both dining areas will be closed from 11.00am - 13.00hrs to allow for cleaning and sanitising. Guests are not permitted to access these areas during these hours.
  • Please use the hand sanitiser provided in the kitchen and dining room and please observe social distancing at all times.
  • To use our self-catering kitchen, 2 – 4 people are only permitted in the kitchen at any one time.
  • The max time permitted in the kitchen is 45 mins. as other guests may also need to use the kitchen.
  • A face covering must be worn at all times when in the kitchen and when entering the dining room areas. Once at your table in the dining room, you can remove your face covering.
  • You will be allocated a kitchen cupboard, which corresponds with your bedroom/s number/s and it will contain cutlery and dishes etc. for your family/group’s use only (during your stay). This cupboard can also be used to store your groceries.
  • You will be allocated a basket in our large fridge for other food items which will also correspond with your bedroom number which is for your family/group’s use only (during your stay).
  • You are required to wash and dry your dishes and put them away in your allocated cupboard after each use.
  • Please do not leave any of your dishes in the sink or on the worktop.
  • Please wipe down any area you have used with sanitisation wipes that are provided.

Use of other communal areas
 

  • Clear guidance concerning social distancing of 2 metres is in place in all communal areas for both your protection and that of our staff.
  • Hand sanitiser and paper towels will be available for your use.
  • A face covering must be worn at all times in communal areas.
  • The lounge will be closed from 11.00am - 13.00hrs for cleaning and sanitising. Guests are not permitted to access this room during those hours.
  • We have limited non-essential items such as reading materials and cushions.
  • We have removed all board games from the lounge.

Checking out

  • Check out time is strictly by 11.00am on the day of your departure to allow for cleaning and sanitising before the next guest’s arrival.
  • If you wish to have breakfast before you leave, please adhere to the times for access to the kitchen (7am - 11am) before it closes for cleaning and sanitising.
  • Access is not permitted to any rooms in the Hostel after 11.00am departure time.
  • Please adhere to social distancing measures at the reception area when checking out.
  • When departing, if the reception desk is open, please leave your key in the bowl at the reception desk.
  • When departing, if the office is closed, please either leave your keys in the back of your bedroom door or lock your bedroom door and leave the keys in the green post box outside the front porch of the building.


CANCELLATION POLICY


Covid-secure refunds - book a break with confidence
If you have made a payment for your booking in advance, please be reassured that any booking that is affected by a Government closure of business or restrictions on travel due to Covid-19, you will be offered a full refund or the opportunity for a change of date.


Forced cancellation of reservation due to Covid-19
If we are forced by the Government to close our business due to Covid-19 restrictions and the closure will affect your reservation, we will contact you to confirm this as soon as possible.


Non-Covid related issue for cancelling or modifying your booking for rooms or the whole Centre
We have a 48hr cancellation policy.  If you wish to cancel or modify your booking for a non-Covid-19 related issue, you will need to do this through the method used to make the booking i.e. Booking.com or Hostelworld.  If your booking was made directly with us, please call us on 071 9176721.  Please cancel in advance of the cancellation period to avoid any charges.
 

For room/s:-

  • Cancellation made 48+ hrs before arrival - No charge or full refund
  • Cancellation made within our 48hr cancellation period - your card used to make your reservation will be charged the fee for the first night's accommodation.


For a whole Centre booking:-

  • Cancellation made 15+ days before arrival - Full refund
  • Cancellation made up to 14 days before arrival - 50% refund or non-refundable change of date
