The Benwiskin Centre, an initiative of Ballintrillick Environmental Group, is set in a beautiful scenic rural location in Ballintrillick, North Co. Sligo, in the shadow of Benwiskin Mountain, part of Ireland's Dartry Mountain range, with the Sligo coastline a short distance away. The Benwiskin Centre invites you to come and experience the beauty of the North West of Ireland.
The area is steeped in history and folklore. Neolithic cairns, dolmans and ring forts testify to the rich heritage of the people who lived here for thousands of years. In Keelogues Cemeterty you will find the ruins of an Abbey, also in the area are mass rocks, the foundations of the old Barytes Mill Site at the base of the Gleniff Horseshoe Drive and much more is waiting to be explored.
The Benwiskin Centre has 6 bedrooms. Visitors can choose from 2 family rooms which have a double bed and bunk beds, each room sleeps 4, 3 twin rooms with 2 single beds and bunk beds, each room sleeps 4 and an 8 bed mixed dorm room with 4 sets of bunk beds. The centre can also be hired out in its entirety with accommodation for group bookings / workshops and can accommodate 28/30 people.
The Benwiskin Centre was awarded the EU Flower Ecolabel Certification in July 2008 in recognition of their 'Green' approach to their services from the European Commission under the Tourist Accommodation category. For more information about our green efforts, visit our 'eco projects' page.
The Centre is an ideal base for yourself, family or group to explore the North West. The Benwiskin Centre is a 28/30 bed Holiday Hostel and Self Catering Accommodation Centre in a rural village called Ballintrillick, approx 4 miles from the nearest village of Cliffoney.

The beds are divided over 6 bedrooms, all rooms have ensuite facilities with 3 additional showers throughout the building, 1 wheelchair accessible. All bedlinen is provided.

The communal kitchen is fully equipped with an adjoining dining room. There is also a large common room area with extra tables and chairs, seating area, flat screen TV, DVD and open fire. For a longer stay at the hostel you can avail of our laundry service during office hours.
Our large common room is ideal for venue hire, for workshops etc.
We have a garden and barbeque area for your use.

If you choose to eat out, there is a wide seleciton of restaurants within a 10-mile radius of the hostel, there's something to suit all budgets and tastes.
There are lots of activities nearby using the Benwiskin Centre as a base. Take a look at our information point and decide how to spend your day! How about going to the beach, choose from Mullaghmore, Rossnowlagh, Bundoran, or Streedagh. Fancy surfing? Why not try out a few surfing lessons or travel around the North Sligo countryside in a horse drawn carriage or take horse riding lessons. How about a bit of history and visit W.B. Yeat's Grave in Drumcliffe? Visit Queen Maeve's Grave on Knocknarea. How about a visit to Sligo Folk Park? Fancy a round of golf or a flutter on the horses at Sligo Races. Catch a show at the theatre or the latest release at the cinema? There are many beautiful areas for walking or cycling from the Benwiskin Centre and you can avail of our bicycle hire service. Why not enrol in a course at The Organic Centre in Rossinver whilst staying with us, the Centre is approx. 30 mins. from here.
The children also have plenty of activities to choose from nearby. Horse riding lessons, amusements, an indoor play centre, the cinema, bowling, swimming. What about a day trip to Eagles Flying, Ireland's largest sanctuary for birds of prey and owls. Why not contact us with your requirements and let us do the work for you!!
How about a bit of shopping? Choose from Sligo Town, Donegal Town, or go over the border to Enniskillen, for a wide range of shops.
The Benwiskin Centre office is open Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm from September to April and 9am - 8pm from May to August. Check in on the day of your arrival is from 2pm and checkout on the day of your departure is by 11am.
Please state your estimated time of arrival at the time of making your reservation and provide a contact number.
If you are arriving outside office hours, we have a keypad door entry system whereby you can gain access to the building without a staff member being present. An email will be sent to you when your reservation is received regarding this. It is important that you read the email.
A Deposit of 5% of your total price of your booking will be taken at the time of booking your accommodation through this website..
We realise that sometimes plans change. Any cancellations or amendments to your reservation must be received by post, e-mail or fax addressed to the Manager.
In order to be fair and avoid any unnecessary charges, please abide by the following minimum cancellation terms:-
No show or cancellation 48 hours or less before arrival
Room/s - You will be required to pay us for the 1st nights accommodation
