The Benwiskin Centre Community Garden Project has recommenced but newcomers welcome to join the project.
Weekly sessions are now held on Tuesdays, 10am - 12pm.
As there is plenty of knowledge between current participants, the group have agreed to work together without a tutor. Tasks are discussed and delegated between participants on a weekly basis.
This project provides a great opportunity to:-
• Make new friends whilst learning / improving skills
• Learn to grow fruit and veg from seeds / seedlings
• Includes organic gardening, pesticide free
• Use of polytunnel and outdoor area
• Trying new plant varieties
• Use of seaweed/farm manure as fertiliser
• Seed saving
• Rotation of plant groups to minimise plant disease
• Composting
• Harvesting
• Visits to other local organic gardens
• Cook-up with garden produce at end of season
