Glens to Sea - Community Conversations

The Townlands and People Heritage Group, Ballintrillick, on the Sligo / Leitrim border has completed some impressive and innovative 'community heritage' initiatives over the last couple of years under the leadership of Aideen Connolly. Alan Hill, who many of you will know, is a sustainable development advisor that works across the islands on tourism, community development and heritage projects. They both live and work in the heart of the Glens to the Sea area and have jointly grown a concept to help refresh the community. They were consequently joined over the last few months by a number of community groups and individuals from Ballintrillick, Glenade, Kinlough, Tullaghan, Cliffoney, Mullaghmore, Grange, Drumcliff, Maugherow, Glencar and Manorhamilton and are now working together to help create a more connected sustainable community in North Sligo and Leitrim under the banner 'Glens to Sea'.

The group’s first objective is to get to know each other better and only then, a coherent vision and realistic plan will follow. Over the next few weeks to aid this process, the Glens to Sea communities will host 5 ‘Community Conversations’ in 5 locations, on 5 topics that are important to sustaining a healthy community for future generations. All are free to attend and are scheduled for Saturday afternoons from the last day of February to the end of April. As Alan and Aideen say "If you live, eat, breath, work or are in some way connected to the Glens to Sea area, these ‘Conversations’ are for you."
