Extension and alteration works at The Benwiskin Centre

Donlon Civil and Building Services are carrying out extension and alteration works on some areas of The Benwiskin Centre and the work is due to continue to end of June 2019.

The work includes:-

• Extension and alterations to our current drying room/store room to change use of room
  Room to be used as additional meeting room space/staff room
• An extension to our kitchen and dining room
• Extension and alterations to 1 current bedroom to change use of room
  Room to be used by guests as a sitting room, freeing up the hall for further use for community activities
• Build a 4/5 bed family bedroom with ensuite facilities to replace room above
• Build 2 twin/double ensuite bedrooms
• Alterations to existing family room
• 2 new store rooms

When the above work is completed, we will have 8 ensuite bedrooms as follows:-

• 3 family / double rooms (1 double bed and a set of bunk beds / each room sleeps 4)
• 2 twin / quadruple rooms (2 single beds and a set of bunk beds / each room sleeps 4)
• 1 double room (1 double bed / room sleeps 2)
• 1 twin room (twin beds / room sleeps 2)
• 1 dorm room (4 sets of bunk beds / room sleeps 8)

We also have 3 additional shower facilities / 1 with wheelchair access / 3 fold up beds also available.
The Benwiskin Centre can also be hired out in it's entirety, accommodating groups of 32 to 35 people. 

This project is being funded by:-

• Sligo Rural Development Programme 2014-2020
• Bridging finance and a loan from Clann Credo
• Ballintrillick Environmental Group’s own funds and donations received from the card games ran by volunteers Pat McGowan and Johnny Duignan

Our accommodation is currently unavailable but we have been able to offer some accommodation on a limited scale. Please check back for further updates or call us on 071 9176721.

Classes and services
The following are continuing at the Centre during the works:-

• Weekly classes (further details here)
• Laundry and office services (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm)
• Weekly Parents and Toddlers sessions (Tuesdays 10am - 12pm)
• Weekly card games (Tuesdays 9pm - 11pm to end of March)
