National Heritage Week - events at The Benwiskin Centre 31st August 2014



As part of National Heritage week, events will be held in and around The Benwiskin Centre on Sunday, 31st August 2014.

From 12 noon - 3pm 

‘Open Day’ on the Tattie Hoaker Community Farm at Creevykeel, Carnduff, Cliffoney. See the amazing pumpkins, squashes and wide range of vegetables inside the polytunnels and the outside field crops. This is a heritage and organic farm, everything is cultivated without chemicals or pesticides and contributes to bio-diversity. Everyone is welcome.

From 2pm - 4.30pm

The Benwiskin Centre events will include:-

  • Demonstrations of butter churning, making creels, hay ropes, baking bread
  • Old style games for children to get involved with
  • Displays of the information gathered to celebrate the Townlands and People of Ballintrillick, Tawley and Glenade
  • A display of paintings of Maude Gonne
  • A short reading and poetry

From 4.30pm - 5.30pm

  • Hedgerow/herbs walk and talk

The event is a good family day out. Admission is free. Everyone is welcome.
