Ballintrillick Environmental Group are holding a screening of the hugely popular, Award-Winning movie ‘Atlantic’ at The Benwiskin Centre on Thursday, 8th Sept at 8pm. Fee €5 per person. Everyone welcome.
‘Atlantic’ follows the fortunes of three small fishing communities (Connemara, Norway & Newfoundland) as they struggle to maintain their way of life in the face of mounting economic and ecological challenges. As the oil majors drive deeper into their fragile seas, and the world’s largest fishing companies push fish stocks to the brink, coastal people and the species they rely on may be reaching a point of no return.
Narrated by Brendan Gleeson, Emmy Award-Winner and Directed by Risteárd Ó Domhnaill (The Pipe), this movie is creating a stir all around Ireland.
